UGC ad basics

What is a UGC creator?

A UGC creator is a person brands pay to film casual, phone-style videos about a product, which the brand then posts or runs as ads. Unlike an influencer, a UGC creator doesn't need a large following or to post on their own account: the brand is paying for the video and the right to use it.

The two overlap when a brand runs a creator's post as a Spark Ad or partnership ad from the creator's handle; see UGC ads vs influencer marketing.

What a UGC creator actually does

What UGC creators charge

Published 2026 rates run from about $50–$100 per video for beginners to $150–$500 for mid-level creators (Conversion.is). Marketplaces such as Insense list creators from $100 per video, plus a platform fee (Insense). Paid-ads usage rights, extra hooks and whitelisting usually cost extra.

Disclosure

If a creator posts about a product on their own account after being paid or gifted it, the FTC's endorsement guidance expects the connection to be disclosed. Content that only runs from the brand's ad account is plainly advertising, but its claims still need to be true.

Where AI presenters fit

AI presenters can stand in for a creator in demo, explainer and hook-testing ads. They can't give a personal-experience testimonial, because they never used the product.

ScrollStop Labs scripts and produces UGC-style video ads with AI presenters for DTC brands. You can see spec examples, with the hook behind each one, on our work page.
