What size should UGC ads be?
Make UGC ads 9:16 vertical at 1080 by 1920 pixels for Reels, Stories, TikTok and Shorts, and add 4:5 or 1:1 cuts for Meta feed placements. Keep faces, product and captions in the centre of the frame, because each app overlays buttons and text along the edges.
Sizes by placement
| Placement | Ratio | Common export |
|---|---|---|
| TikTok in-feed | 9:16 (recommended) | 1080 × 1920 |
| Instagram/Facebook Reels and Stories | 9:16 | 1080 × 1920 |
| YouTube Shorts | 9:16 | 1080 × 1920 |
| Facebook/Instagram Feed | 4:5 or 1:1 | 1080 × 1350 or 1080 × 1080 |
TikTok's in-feed specs recommend vertical 9:16 at a minimum of 540 × 960, with files up to 500 MB. 1080 × 1920 is the standard export most teams use for sharp results.
Safe zones
Every app lays buttons, captions and the account name over the video. Keep faces, product and text in the centre of the frame, away from the bottom and right edges. TikTok publishes downloadable safe-zone templates on the same specs page, and Meta's partnership ads guidance also tells advertisers to keep key elements inside the safe zone.
Film once, export several
Shoot vertically with some space above and below the presenter, so a 4:5 crop for Meta feeds doesn't cut off heads or product. Check every export before uploading.
