How much do Spark Ads cost?
TikTok doesn't charge a separate fee for Spark Ads: you pay normal ad spend, just as with standard in-feed ads. The extra cost, if any, comes from the creator, who may charge for authorising their post to be used as an ad, especially for longer authorisation periods.
What you pay TikTok
Spark Ads are an ad format inside TikTok Ads Manager, not a paid add-on. You set a budget and bid like any other campaign. TikTok's help page lists support for objectives including reach, traffic, video views, community interaction, conversions, lead generation and sales.
What you may pay the creator
To spark someone else's post, the creator has to generate an authorisation code for a period they choose. Creators often charge for this, especially for long authorisations, because the ad runs from their account and engagement lands on their post. Common structures:
- A flat fee per authorisation period.
- A higher upfront video fee that includes Spark rights.
- No extra fee when the creator was already paid for the content and rights.
These are negotiated; TikTok doesn't set them.
Sparking your own posts
If the video is on your brand's own TikTok account, there's no creator fee. You just authorise the post and pay for ad spend.
Budget tips
- Match the authorisation period to how long you expect to run the ad.
- Agree in writing that the creator won't delete the post during the period. TikTok notes a sparked video must be un-authorised before it can be deleted.
- Test Spark and standard in-feed versions of the same video before committing to long authorisations.
For reference, our own Test Pack is $149 for 3 finished ads with 9 hook versions in total, about $50 per ad. Details are on our pricing.
