How do you analyze UGC ad results?
Read the funnel in order: hook rate shows whether the opening stops the scroll, hold rate whether the middle keeps attention, click-through rate whether the offer interests people, and cost per purchase or return on ad spend whether it sells. Compare ads within the same campaign and audience, not across them.
A diagnostic table
| Metric | Question it answers | If it's low, fix… |
|---|---|---|
| Hook rate | Does the opening stop the scroll? | First line, first shot, on-screen text |
| Hold rate | Does the middle keep attention? | Pacing, length, getting to the product sooner |
| Click-through rate | Does the offer interest people? | Angle, proof, call to action |
| Conversion rate | Does the landing page close? | Page match with the ad, offer, price |
| Cost per purchase / ROAS | Does it make money? | Whichever stage above is weakest |

Rules for a fair read
- Compare ads in the same campaign, audience and placement.
- Wait for enough spend before calling sales results.
- Look at trends over days, not one day's numbers.
Tag every ad
Label each ad with its angle, hook type, format and presenter. After a few batches you can see patterns, for example that problem hooks beat question hooks for your product, which is far more useful than knowing one ad won.
Turn analysis into the next brief
Every review should end with the next test: which winner to iterate, which angle to drop, which new idea to try.
If you need more variations to test, ScrollStop Labs produces UGC-style ads with alternate hooks, delivered by email in 72 hours.
